U.S. President Donald Trump says that customs duties on Canada oil may be set to 10 %. He also stated that oil and gas tariffs might come on February 18 rather than the date on February 1st to import other Canadian imports.

Trump confirmed on January 31 that it was approaching the products from Canada, Mexico, and China, and said that the government was responsible for the inflow of Fentanil into the United States. Trump also quoted illegal immigrants and the flow of trade deficit as tariff reasons.

The US President said that customs duties would be applied to microchips, oil and gas, steel and aluminum. He added that copper tariffs would come to the future date.

“We intend to put tariffs on oil and gas. Trump told reporters on January 31 in an elliptical office of the White House.

When asked if a 25 % tariff on Canadian products would be applied to oil and gas, Trump said that the proportion of these imports was low.

“I think we are going to reduce it to 10 % with oil,” he said.

During his work to prevent tariffs, Canada said that he was ready to respond to “powerful and immediate response.”

“It’s not what we want, but if he moves forward, we will act,” said Tordeau on January 31.

Daniel Smith, Prime Minister Alberta, accounts for 87 % of Canadian oil exports to the United States, but emphasizes that the United States need Canada oil.
Canada accounted for more than 50 % of US oil imports in 2023.

Ottawa has announced a $ 1.3 billion plan to strengthen border security, including helicopters and drones and new taskforce setup. The state has also published its own plans, including patroling borders and other actions using local police.

Mr. Trump said on January 31 that there was nothing at this point to prevent tariffs from becoming effective on February 1.

“No, not right now,” he told reporters.

Asked whether Canada’s efforts so far have been wasted, the Minister of Public Security, David McGinti, said that the increase in border security would be useful for both Canada and the United States.

“We have made large -scale improvements in various aspects, such as dealing with migration and dealing with Fentanil’s problems,” said McGini after Trump’s remarks in January. He mentioned at a joint press conference between the Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. 31.

Jolly said that she was still involved in the Democratic Party, the Trump administration, “Senator of the major Republican Party,” but when tariffs came, Canada said that he would make a strong retaliation plan. She said that Canada’s retaliation duties would be a round.

“There is a first -round measure, a second -round measure, and a third round measurement,” Jolly said. “And we will maintain some leverage.”

US tariff round

Howard Lutonic, a candidate for Trump’s Ceremony, suggested that the President’s duties could be accompanied by two rounds in a confirmation hearing on January 29. He stated that the first tariff set was intended to take action from Canada and Mexico and stop illegal immigrants and drugs to the United States through borders. The second round of tariffs, which he would come later, would be intended for unfair trading practices.

“This tariff model is simply to close the border with respect. If we are your biggest trade partner, respect the United States.

He was signed by Trump’s presidential order on the first day of his appointment on January 20, and said, “Investigate the sustainable trade deficit of trade in other countries, rescue, and deal with unreasonable trade and currency policy. I requested “to do”. Lutnick stated that these evaluations were announced at the end of March and April and could be accompanied by additional tariffs.

“The big macro issues on tariffs are being studied, but the micro issues are Canada, Mexico, and China’s (Fentanyl) precursor. They need to end,” he said.

Minister Jolie said that Canada has participated in US authorities’ research on trade relationships obliged by Trump’s presidential order.
