The president said the planes will be used temporarily.
On May 11, President Donald Trump said the US was receiving planes from Qatar, which will be used as the new air force.
“Therefore, the Pentagon is giving free gifts from 747 aircraft to temporarily replace the 40-year-old Air Force with a very public and transparent deal,” Trump writes about his social media platform, Truth Social.
He said it bothered Democrats who said the US should pay.
“Anyone can do it!” he said.
“However, the issues remain under review by their respective legal departments and no decisions have been made,” they added.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said before Trump’s post that “gifts given by foreign governments are always accepted to be in full compliance with all applicable laws.”
Some Democrats raised concerns about the potential gift.
The clause states, “The title of nobility shall not be recognized by the United States, and shall not be accepted from kings, princes or foreign countries, without the consent of Congress, or without the consent of Congress, any kind, or any kind.”
