“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we’ll do that anymore,” the president said.
“I don’t even think about Elon. He has problems. The poor guy has problems,” Trump told CNN on Friday.
When asked if he had a phone conversation with Tesla CEO who left the Trump administration last week, Trump said, “No.
The February 5 feud began with Trump responding to opposition to the Musk’s GOP bill to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent, including provisions related to US energy, and to secure borders. It will also increase the debt cap by $4 trillion and eliminate the $7,500 EV tax credit.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we’ll do that anymore,” he said in his oval office, sitting next to German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz.
Musk said Trump had not won the presidency and that the GOP would not have caught the home without the entrepreneurial efforts worth $300 million. He also said the GOP will only control the Senate with 51 seats, not the 53 seats that were not for him.
Trump said Musk “knowed more about the internal structure of the bill than anyone sitting here.” Musk denied it and said he was unable to show a copy of the bill despite it being publicly available.
“Fake, this bill has never been presented to me, and since he died late at night, no one in Congress could even read it!” Musk said in a social media post.
The president said Musk was upset by the bill to abolish EV credits, which had a negative impact on Tesla. Musk denied this and said he didn’t mind the delegation being eliminated.
“Anything,” he said in the post. “We will maintain the bill’s EV/solar incentive reduction (very unfair!!) despite the fact that oil and gas subsidies have not been mentioned, but we’ll throw away the pile of pork that the bill hates.”
Trump also said he was upset that Musk had retracted Jared Isaacman’s nomination to lead NASA. Musk supported Isaac Man.
The president called for the abolition of government subsidies to mask companies.
“The easiest way to save money on budgets, billions of dollars, billions of dollars is to end Elon’s government subsidies and contracts,” Trump wrote in a post on True Society.
