TAVARES, Fla. (WFLA) — A Citrus County man has been arrested for an illegal gambling operation related to suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, NBC affiliate WESH said.
Sheldon Wetherholt, 58, of Citrus County, was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 11:08pm Tuesday and booked at Lake County Jail.
According to the Lake County Jail, Wetherholt was charged with assault and conspiracy.
Weatherholt first appeared on Wednesday morning. There, the judge set two rate bonds at $100,000.
If released, Wetherholt will need to wear a GPS monitor.
Wetherholt was manager of Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway’s Fusion Social Club LLC. This is the same address that prosecutors allege that the co-defendants have been running illegal gambling homes for two years, according to state business records obtained by WESH.
Two other co-defendants, Sharon Fedric and Carol Tate, were also arrested last week, but were released on bonds, Wesh said.
Another co-defendant, Ying Zhang, is still sought.
Lopez was arrested Thursday, June 5th and charged with assault and conspiracy to commit a conspiracy.
According to Attorney General James Usmier, the organization has made more than $21.6 million in illegal revenue.
The judge granted Lopez a $1 million bond on the condition that he would wear a GPS monitor and give up his passport and firearm.
The hearing related to Lopez bonds was cancelled Tuesday.
