TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – State lawmakers have made the final decision to extend the legislative meeting until June 6, just before the clock was hit in the middle of the night on May 2, 2025.
The session was supposed to end on Friday, May 2, but the House and Senate have not reached a budget plan deal.
Lawmakers will take a break next week and return to the district, with the budget meeting going on the week of May 12th.
Senate President Ben Albritton (R-Waucula) shared the statement on your part. “We definitely need to do more and we are pleased to have reached a budget planning framework and a tentative schedule to move forward.
As we discussed yesterday, you will be free to return to your district and family next week. Enjoy your time together and make the most of every moment. Meanwhile, we hope to complete work on allocating budget meetings with the House of Representatives. I hope that the budget meeting will continue on the Mother’s Day weekend, the week of May 12th. During this time, I understand that there are senators who have a commitment away from Tallahassee. Once the allocation is reached, we will publish a more detailed schedule. Again, I would like to thank you for your patience. ”
