Pura’s scent has recalled over 850,000 diffusers as some magnets can separate and pose a risk of intake for children.
The company is recalling approximately 851,400 Pura 4 smart home fragrance diffusers with removable covers. He said an additional 1,100 have been sold in Canada.
The plastic scent said the magnets on the inner cover of the product can separate, pose a risk of ingestion to children. When a powerful magnet is swallowed, the ingested magnets are attracted to each other, attracting other metal objects and allowing them to stay in the digestive system. This can lead to perforation, twisting or clogging of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and death.
The company has received three reports of magnets that are detached from the cover. No injuries have been reported.
The diffuser was sold for around $50 at Scheels and other stores nationwide from August 2023 to May 2025. It was also sold online through the Pura website and online on Amazon, Target and Scheels.
Pura Scents offers free replacement covers. Consumers are encouraged to immediately dispose of existing removable covers and keep the diffuser out of reach of children and pets.
Individuals can contact Pura scents at 855-394-5292 from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. The company can also send it to derplicement@pura.com by email. Consumers can also visit the company’s website and click “Recall” at the bottom of the page for more information.
