The governor of Baja California and her husband did not say why.
The governor of Mexican border states in Baja, California, said on May 11 that both her and her husband’s US visas had withdrawn.
“My conscience is calm and I am confident that the situation will be resolved in a favorable way,” he said in the post, “I have contacted an international immigration law expert who is evaluating the submission of a motion to resume or reconsider the decision.”
“My husband Carlos was facing a situation and like every shared life, it reached me,” she wrote. “Immediately after the consul action was applied to him, I received a similar notice and I am sure the situation will be made clear enough for both of us.”
Neither Torres nor Avila publicly stated why the visa was withdrawn or whether US officials gave them a reason.
Avila wrote on social media platform X: “I will make this absolutely clear. Carlos has always acted with integrity, dedication and deep commitment to Baja California. My support for him is not personal, but moral and political.
“We’ll wait… before we issue communications,” said Shainbaum, who also belongs to the Morena Party.
“Every time the government catches non-US citizens breaking our laws, we take action to revoke their (visa) status,” the post reads.
A spokesman for the US embassy told The Associated Press that Visa Records is confidential and cannot be discussed publicly.
The Epoch Times contacted the US Embassy in Mexico for comments.
