BOURUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman who believed she was helping a retired Army general and a wounded military dog, has become her $60,000 casualty, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies said Corey Woodall, 56, of Oxford, North Carolina, was convinced the 70-year-old woman had been helping the retired Army general back to the United States after responding to an email about the injured military dog.
Investigators said the woman sent money to Woodall, including $30,000 in cash. They said Woodor spent the money on buying cars, lawnmowers and trailers.

Woodall was handed over to Volsia County Tuesday and charged with an organized scheme of fraud and grand theft.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood confronted Woodall when he arrived. He told Uddar he would be held without bonds.

“You don’t have a bond, so you don’t go outside anytime soon. When you scam my residents here, we take it really, seriously and the judges do that,” Chitwood said. “This isn’t right. This woman has spent her life and cared for people.”
Woodall then told the victim and Chitwood that he would pay the woman back.
“I wish that was true,” Chitwood said.
