st. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A man accused of killing a woman and injuring her boyfriend faced a judge for the first time Thursday.
Police say 33-year-old Kyle Hill purposely kicked the couple off the road after mistaking the vehicle for his ex-girlfriend’s car.
Kyle Hill was sitting in a wheelchair wearing an orange jumpsuit, showing signs of pain from the crash that police said he caused.
“Hill, you committed murder on first-degree accusations and attempted murder on first-degree,” Judge Philip Federico reads to Hill.
Police said Hill was drunk and furious when he chased an innocent couple north of 34th Avenue on Sunday when he deliberately kicked them off the road, thinking they were his ex-girlfriends.
“As you can see, they hit a concrete pole to my left. The pole got off on the car and crashed over the Medina where she died,” Federico said.
The impact was extremely violent and caught the attention of people.
“Based on my military experience, it looked like it was hit by a car bomb. It was how horrifying the first car was, the Honda Accord and the pickup truck were upside down,” said Captain James Van Tach, who heard the accident.
Driver Novellis figure Gopos was seriously injured and his girlfriend, Alisrenni Blanco Medina, was killed.
In the court, the judge asked Hill about the crash, but Hill argued that he had no recollection of it. But for the victims’ families, it’s not to be forgotten.
“All her daughter can say is that she wants a mother again,” said the victim’s loved one, Nicole Galvan.
Judge Fedrico asked, “Apparently your car hasn’t gotten better after the circumstances of the accident, did it pay off?” Hill replied, “I don’t remember anything, teacher.”
The seriously injured man is currently listed in a critical state. As for the suspect, Kyle Hill, he received no bonds.
