As Royal Caribbean has been sailing for a month on its latest cruise ship, Star of Seas, from Port Canaveral, the company is celebrating its construction milestone with two icon class ships:
The Legend of the Sea, the third huge ship in the Icon series, first touched the water earlier this month while floating out at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Meanwhile, the Royal Caribbean marked the beginning of construction with a fourth icon class ship, with a keel laying ceremony in the dry dock just behind Legend of the Seas.

Set to sail from Fort Lauderdale in the fall of 2026, Legend of the Seas is a sister ship to both the Sea Icon and the Sea Star. Many of the core amenities and activities are the same, such as the Category 6 Water Park, but the new icon class ships offer unique entertainment, new dining options and fresh artwork.
Following the slates of the Mediterranean itinerary in the summer of 2026, the Legend will sail for Florida next November, alternating six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Caribbean itinerary.

The fourth icon class ship, which has not yet been named, will be in shape over the next two years and will debut in 2027. The ship is very similar to its icon class predecessor, but the ship has some upgrades and new amenities.
“You’ll see us continue to evolve our classes,” said Jay Schneider, chief product innovation officer at Royal Caribbean, in the media sailing on Star of the Seas. The exact details of the fourth icon class ship have not been revealed yet.
