MSC Cruises has opened what will blow the world’s largest cruise terminal in Port Miami
Announced at an open ceremony on April 5th and developed in collaboration with Port and Miami-Dade County, the four-level building can serve up to 36,000 passengers per day.
At this time, two ships can be docked at the same time. Miami-Dade County is responsible for completing its third berth by 2028. The terminal will then be able to accommodate three ships at the same time.
MSC World America, the newest ship in Geneva-based carrier, calls the new terminal home. The ship is ready for its first cruise to the Caribbean this week.
MSC Cruises said a total of four ships and vessels from the luxury brand Explora Journeys will sail from the new terminal throughout 2025.
The nearly 500,000 square feet terminal, designed by Arquitectonica in Miami, was built by the Fincantieri infrastructure and has been under construction since 2022 and cost around $450 million. Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniela Leviinkaba attended Saturday’s announcement.
