MARON COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A man’s iPhone saved his life after crashing a truck through a fence and stabbing him, Marion County Firefighters said.
MCFR was dispatched to a rollover crash in the 6400 block of West Highway 329 in Reddick.
“The crash was first reported through an iPhone alert, followed by direct communication between the injured driver and the public safety communications center,” MCFR said in a Facebook post.
The crew arrived within six minutes and after a pickup truck crashed the fence, it capsizes on the field, revealing that the driver was trapped inside.
“He was pinned to a fence post and thrust into it, so perhaps he could not have called 911 himself,” Marion County Firefighters said.
According to the MCFR, paramedics began treatment and crews from various stations began doing precision mining.
The vehicle’s driver was thrust into a fence, causing complications of escape.
After using special tools, firefighters carefully removed the vehicle’s roof and successfully released the driver by 6:30am, MCFR said.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
