On Saturday, the Healthy Start Alliance in Seminole County (HSCSC) became engrossed in the Team Papa Event, a free event for participating Team Papa’s fathers. It was held at Lake Carola and featured fishing activities and resources tailored for his father. Thanks to a generous $5,000 sponsorship from Aetna Better Health in Florida, and support from Senior Commissioner Kelly Wiggins and local organizations, the Seminole County father was able to enjoy a day of fishing, designed specifically for them.
Calmengusman, executive director of the Healthy Start Coalition in Seminole County, said: “I want Dad to know what’s important. This event is about giving him space to connect, recharge and feel supported. Strong Dad builds strong families and helps strong families thrive in their communities. Sponsorship from Aetna Better Health in Florida.”
Dad enjoyed a relaxing day in the water, fishing with the help of Lake Mary Boy Scouts. The fishing element of this event is part of a broader effort supported by Aetna, Florida, to strengthen healthier family and community connections along with community resources. As part of the event sponsorship, Florida’s Aetna Better Health generically provided participants with hygiene kits, ensuring that families not only enjoyed their day’s activities, but also had the resources to promote dignity, health and continued well-being.
Community organizations and leaders are also on-site to provide important resources, including:
Unity Youth Association
Midway Union

Seminole County Fire Department
Florida Department of Health, Seminole County
Mental Health Specialist
Local elected leaders
