SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The woman will spend the next two.5 years in prison after a crash in a DUI, according to the state attorney’s office for Florida’s 5th Judicial Circuit.

Jasmine DeBleon Glover, 24, was still a teenager on the system on February 9, 2020 when he was behind the wheels with both cannabis and etizolam, a drug similar to Xanax.

Officials said three passengers were with her when she drove on County Road 476 in Sumter County. At one point, Glover lost control of the vehicle and was heading from the road towards his shoulder.

The vehicle then crashed into a tree, and one of the passengers, Alex Olivia Matthews, 21, was dumped. Investigators said the force from the collision caused the vehicle to roll over Matthews, causing her death.

The two surviving passengers confirmed that Glover was behind the wheels at the time of the crash. The first responder on the scene said he noticed Glover was “bloody, watery eyes, expanded students, obscure speech, very thick tongue.”

They also found “a fair amount of cannabis” in the Glover waistband. Detectives say she agreed to a blood draw and they could determine that she had “a lot” of drugs in her system.

All evidence collected was presented at Glover’s trial, along with testimony from witnesses and law enforcement.

She was convicted of manslaughter of DUI, serious injuries, DUI causing DUI injuries, DUI with property damage and possession of cannabis.

The State Attorney’s Office shared photos of the victim’s family in court following the conviction. The family stood nearby, their faces solidified. A family had a photo of Matthews.

Glover’s 29.5-year sentence at the Florida Department of Corrections follows one year of probation, according to the state attorney’s office.
