The Chinese Communist Party has already censored the Internet, but experts say anyone can use radio waves.
The Chinese Communist regime is trying to increase control of wireless communication devices after years of restraining internet freedom.
The Chinese Ministry of Government can post a message on its official WeChat account on March 23, warning of suspected threats posed by radio waves, and carry and spread the massive amounts of information.
The notice accused foreign radio equipment of being “new toys” and illegally purchasing it, poses a so-called threat to national security. It emphasized “protecting the undercurrents of radio across borders,” preventing illegal use.
The ministry highlighted two cases of “stealing information” through wireless devices. The first radio enthusiast, named Zheng, was punished for installing suspicious equipment near military ports in the country and “continuously collecting sensitive signals.” The other, named Zhang, named Zhang, was arrested for personally building a radio station and “accepting orders from foreign troops to spread false information.”
Analysts say the latest moves show that the dominant Communist Party of China (CCP) fears the effects of radio communications and that attempts to control radio waves are ineffective.
Shen Minh Si, director of National Security Studies at the Taiwan Institute of Defense and Security, said during the Epoch Times is the only field that CCPs are difficult to control because they use a variety of control measures to censor content on the Internet.
He explained that there are two types of radio stations. Regions and short distances can only be heard by monitoring short radio waves. The other type is long distance and is transmitted over long wavelengths.
“We can send internationally, especially on long distances,” he said. “To prevent the flow of important information and information between citizens, the CCP considers it an inadequately controlled channel. The CCP emphasizes the prevention of radio communications in notifications, which is the main factor,” Shen said.
Shen also said that CCP’s State Department Security warnings about the use of radio communications equipment believe “CCP is currently in a state of panic.”
“The CCP is afraid that people will communicate with each other through radio and take joint action (with the administration),” he said. “We are also afraid that people will use wireless devices to send important information about CCPs. This can be used by foreign countries to determine the actual national strength or military mechanics of the CCP.”
The key issue of the provincial notification is about freedom of speech, Su Tzu-Yun, researcher and director of the Defense Strategy and Resources division of Taiwan’s Institute of Defense and Security, told the Epoch Times.
“If people send signals through wireless communications equipment, the Department of National Security can monitor them, but if people receive antennas to receive signals only, the authorities can’t detect them,” he said.
“Therefore, if Chinese people are receiving antennas, they can receive signals from the outside world, such as voices of hope, Taiwan, foreign broadcasts, and get social information that is suppressed by the CCP.

Additionally, Shen said that radio equipment can even collect radio signals from the CCP’s military or public safety department before decoding them.
Li Yuanhua, an Australia-based Chinese historian and former associate professor at Capital Normal University in Beijing, told the Epoch Times that CCP is afraid that people will learn the truth through radio communication.
“There’s no need to break the internet blockage, but you just have to listen on a simple receiving device,” says Li.
