Riviera Beach, Fla. (WFLA) – A 14-year-old child is charged with murder after being accused of fatally shooting a man in Riviera Beach last month.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV, the teen was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail Monday night on charges related to the May 19 shooting.
That night, around 10pm, Riviera Beach officials responded to reports of gunshots in the area. At the scene, they spotted a Nissan Altima crashing into a garden along West 30th Avenue.
Authorities said the vehicle is 32-year-old Noeraint Gulesaint, who died of multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators later discovered a bicycle lying in a nearby damaged garden and a portion of a vehicle that had been removed.
Witnesses told investigators that they saw a child in an area approaching the vehicle, armed, before entering an argument and shooting the victim multiple times. After Gulesaint was shot, his car rolled down the street before stopping.
On May 25, reporters said police found a teenager armed with a black Taurus semi-automatic handgun and he was taken into custody.
Police interviewed the teenage suspect. He told them he was riding his bike as Nissan started driving towards him at high speed without light. The teen said the vehicle drove him and knocked him off the bike onto the pavement.
Police said the suspect was scared that Gulesaint, the driver of the vehicle, was trying to kill him, so he shot twice in the driver’s side window. The teen said that before Gulesaint drove to West 30th Avenue, he placed the vehicle inverted, as if to hit him.
The suspect told police he shot the victim four more times and chased the vehicle before fleeing the area.
Reporters told police that the 14-year-old had no idea about Gursen, “I can’t regret anyone he doesn’t know.”
Police arrested the teen and he is charged with one count of first-degree murder and arrears firearms.
