According to the Tavares Police Department, Tavares, Florida (WFLA) – a 10-year-old child who was “terrifying abuse” by his mother and boyfriend.

Last month, the child’s mother, Kimberly Mills and her boyfriend Andre Walker took Mills’ 10-year-old son to a Healthy Waterman after doing CPR on the way to the hospital.

Hospital staff noticed that the child was covered in bruises, burns and other injuries that matched the abuse. According to the police station, they began treating the boy who had remained in danger since February 23rd.

“It is clear to our agency that this child has been terribly abused. He is covered from head to toe with bruises of different sizes at different stages of healing,” Tavares Police Detective Courtney Sullivan said in February.

They left the hospital when Mills and Walker were told the officers would respond. At the same time, the boy was actively receiving CPR in the emergency department.

The mother later returned to Advent Health with another child, but without Walker refused to tell officials how her child was hurt. That day, Mills was arrested for aggravated child abuse, and Walker turned himself back.

Authorities determined that Mills and Walker were torture and abusing the 10-year-old and his nine-year-old brother.

On March 6th, police released photos of Object Mills and Walker, which they used to abuse children. Their home search revealed objects used to suppress 10-year-olds, such as a 6-foot ladder, 10-pound weight, and duct tape. Officials said the child’s weight was lost to the exposed stomach.

Authorities said evidence revealed that the child’s hands were tied over his head, leaving him vulnerable. He used thick insulated copper wire in his bedroom to harm the two boys.

Detectives from the Tavares Police Station have arrived at a hospital where the 10-year-old is inside the head and raccoon eyes, saying there is a possibility of head trauma, according to NBC affiliate WESH.

In an interview with his brother, Wesh said the young boy told the detective that his brother was being punished in the living room before being taken to the garage to be punished further by pedestrians. This punishment included dropping the weight and tying him with duct tape.

At a bond hearing on March 19, WESH reported that the judge had rejected Walker’s bond.

The 10-year-old leaves behind his biological father and brother.

In an update on March 21st, the police department issued a statement saying, “The life of this innocent child is characterized by unspeakable suffering, and his losses deeply shake up our community and everyone involved in this incident.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to strengthen the accusations of the child’s mother and her boyfriend.
