MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – Cuban actor and telenovela star Pedro Moreno, 44, was arrested Wednesday after a dispute with his wife, the Miami-Dade Police Department reported.

The couple has been married for 17 years, but are in the midst of a divorce.

According to NBC affiliate WTVJ, the conflict began when Moreno’s wife, Barbara Estevez, allowed the actor to use her cell phone and began “snooping” through it.

Investigators say the struggle over the device escalated after refusing to put the phone back to her, and Moreno “forced” removes it from Estevez’s hands.

Moreno’s wife then asked her daughter to call the police and urged the actor to return her cell phone.

Upon arrival, police arrested Moreno and charged him with robbery of a strong arm, but after appearing in court on Thursday, the judge had no presumed cause and the claim was cut to the battery.

Estevez also appeared in court on Thursday, calling for her to speak in her favor and dismiss the case against him.
