“All students with intellectual and developmental disabilities are invited to attend,” Lindsay Arthur said. “We have friends from general education who have come out and we have friends to build friendships with our students. They really benefit from each other.”
Lindsay Arthur has dedicated his 16 years of career teaching students with disabilities.
“This is the best part of my day when I come to school and I’m with these kids,” she said. “It fills my heart. We are their voices, they are our hearts.”
“Arthur is an incredible teacher,” Giovanni Juarez said.
Giovanni is one of Mr. Arthur’s students taking part in the special Olympics event.
He said it was an exciting day and is known for being a wheelchair race champion.
“Last year was fun and we won,” he said.
From throwing soccer and playing basketball and soccer, Arthur said it was this era that brings schools together.
It’s a day for everyone to broaden their awareness and make sure every child knows how important they are.
“No one’s going to stop my roll!” Juarez said.
Thursday’s event is not the only event the school is holding to celebrate its students. On April 26th, the school is taking part in a walk with the best friends together. Click here for more information.
