TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A group of Tampa girls raised funds to send to Texas victims Saturday morning.
Emily Mifsud, Ellie Turner, Everly Turner and Anna Mifsud all have Texas victims in their hearts and have said they want to do what they can to seek help from Camp Mystic in particular.
“So we’re raising money for the people of Texans. Camp Mystic lost a child in flash floods, so we’re trying to raise as much money as possible to help them,” Emily Mifsoude said.
The lemonade stand had good turnout after the customers approached the help.
“Everyone feels a lot of sympathy for these people in Texas, so they clearly look like, ‘Of course I’ll help you.’ Some people just donate and don’t even buy lemonade,” Everly Turner said.
“The girls really want to support the American Red Cross and Kerr County relief funds where Camp Mystic is located, so they can help send money and impact camps and certain victims.”
The girls said they already plan to do a lemonade stand, but after seeing the devastating news from Texas, they changed where all the donations were heading.
“We know that making money doesn’t have a big impact, but we’re grateful that we can make the most of our impact,” Everly said.
“It feels good to know we can help their families,” Ellie said.
The whole neighborhood gathered and helped the lemonade stand.
“Of course, it really makes me so proud, and there’s unanimous approval and enthusiasm from every girl in my neighborhood, and do whatever you can to help others, especially the little girl who is a tragic victim,” Christine said.
Each cup they sold helped make a difference, even from a distance from the state.
Christine Turner said he plans to send out all the money that was donated on Saturday night.
