“I’m trying to do my best to get shots, and hopefully they’ll go in,” Forsling said.
Shortly after, Bobrovsky refused to let Claude Giroux go, keeping Ottawa off the board.
“I just tried to hold my ground,” said Bobrovsky, who finished with five holes with saves.
The Panthers relied on their goaltender and several big defensemen throughout the game, and near the midway point of the third period, Niko Mikkola laid out and poked the puck out, capping a 2-on-1 rush and denying another scoring opportunity for the Senators.
After pulling away their goaltender and taking a 6-on-5 advantage, the Senators managed to make it a one-score game when Drake Batherson scored with 1:42 left to cut Florida’s lead to 3-2.
From there, the Panthers did not allow a shot on goal until the final horn.
“We stayed calm and stuck together,” Forsling said of securing the big road win. “We did a good job getting the puck off. Bob made some big saves as well.”
they said it
“Can you survive those moments in the game that aren’t necessarily the way you want them to be played? There’s going to be pucks that don’t come out, plays that don’t go in, plays that don’t get completed. We have so many big men out of our lineup that it doesn’t carry as much weight, but tonight was a game.” – Paul Maurice
“Every period, every shift I got a little bit more confident. I think that really helped me in my debut. I played a lot. I got more confident every shift.” – Sandis Vilmanis
“It was a good game. Another really tight game. I thought we played fast. I thought we played strong in all zones.” – Sergei Bobrovsky
