Using a switch to beef fat means Steak’N Shake will no longer have a vegetarian-friendly option.
“Vegetarians should eat fries elsewhere,” Dan Edwards, CEO of Steak’N Shake, told Nexstar earlier when the Switch was announced. “At Steak’N Shake, we want to offer the best. In doing so, we cannot make everyone happy. We will please those looking for fries made in the authentic way. It needs to be.”
According to Mayo Clinic, beef tallow has several potential benefits, but “high intake of saturated fat still links heart health, including heart risk and vascular disease risk. Therefore, it is recommended to use it sparingly as an edible oil.
