According to the Destin Fort Walton Beach tourism website, the Ocean Liner sinks off the coast, where it becomes “the world’s largest artificial reef.”
“When deployed from Destin Fort Walton Beach at a length of nearly 1,000 feet, SS US will become a hub for diverse marine life and attract divers and anglers from all over the world.”

According to the tourism website, underwater boats can be an “immersive experience” for divers.
Florida officials are also planning to build a museum on the land for the ship. The museum includes ship funnels, radar masts, other components, and a large curator and archive collection.
