It’s still too early to tell, but Spirit Airlines looks at the spring destinations its customers are looking for, Florida is still the top destination, with three of the top five in Sunshine State.
“We know that many travelers are locked on their first holiday of the year. They have the most searched spring break for guests after warm weather and major entertainment options with Florida, Las Vegas and Puerto Rico. It’s clear that they’re toppings for their destination list,” said Rana Ghosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Change Officer at Spirit Airlines.

Spirit Airlines adds new Florida flights
Pensacola may soon be on the list. Spirit Airlines announced in January that the company would expand its non-stop flight offerings for spring break. The new flights include:
Nashville International Airport BNA-PNS: March 6-18, 4x weekly (New Service) Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport DFW-PNS: March 5-17, 4x weekly (service resumed) Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport DTW-PNS: March 20th – April 8th, 4X Weekly (New Service) Chicago O’Hare International Airport ORD-PNS: March 20th – April 8th, 3x per week (New Service)
There will also be a new non-stop flight between Fort Myers and Charlotte, North Carolina in March.

Will Spirit Airlines bankruptcy affect services?
Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2024 after long-term losses, failed attempts to merge, and maturity of its obligations.
Spirit previously announced pilot Farlow and capacity cuts, but the company was heavily affected by engine issues that have grounded many Airbus A320s across multiple airlines. However, the US Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York said it would be a “best of all” airlines to ensure that the company continues to pay its employees, vendors and partners, allowing airlines to continue flights to restructure their debts. “First Day” relief request has been approved.
Is it safe to fly?
Recent tragic airplane incidents – air collisions in Washington, air collisions between a passenger plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter that left 67 people dead. A medical Learjet crashed in Philadelphia and killed all six people on board the ship and one person on the ground. A US military service member and three contractors were killed in a plane crash in the Philippines. More than 100 passengers were evacuated when the wings of United Airlines planes on the runway set fire to light. The plane owned by Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, crashed into a business jet, killing one person and injuring four others. Many travelers are concerned about flight safety.
However, flight remains statistically the safest form of transport, especially for commercial airlines in the US.
