ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – A passenger flying out of Orlando International Airport (MCO) over the weekend was stuck after Silver Airways suddenly cancelled all flights, according to a report by NBC affiliate WESH.
Anglea Starke reads a statement from the MCO’s Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Community Relations:
“I got a notification that it went into effect immediately yesterday afternoon and that all departures and arrival flights with Silver Airlines would be cancelled.”
What lies behind the sudden cancellation is unknown.

The unexpected move came just two months after the airline issued an open letter to its clients, and announced it had voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Silver Airways has confirmed with customers that all flight tickets are valid and remain in normal operation.
“We expect to complete this process by the first quarter of 2025 and are ready to serve you with the same dedication that has been backed by over 13 years,” they said in a December 30 release.
The airline added that the decision will allow them to undergo a financial restructuring that they hope will strengthen the company and benefit passengers.
