Budget Career Silver Airways has suddenly ended its activities today after months of lack of bankruptcy negotiations.
The airline, launched in 2011 in Hollywood, Florida, specializes in routes between Florida cities, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. He filed bankruptcy in December with over $500 million in debt, and struggled to find a buyer.
Carriers had three routes at Tampa International Airport, including Pensacola, Key West and Fort Lauderdale. All these routes are covered by other airlines, airport officials said in a statement.
Tampa International had been expecting Silver’s service to be eventually cancelled for months, CEO Michael Stevens said in a recent interview with the Tampa Bay Times.
In March, the airline closed all flights to and from Orlando International Airport.
The disability airline warned its customers not to go to the airport, but instead seek a refund from their credit card carrier or travel agent.
