The loose changes found in the store’s parking lot are credited by helping women win large numbers in the Florida lottery.
Sarah Mallory, 57, is a lucky player, and she says all of the dimes found outside the Bellevue Food Store, a drive about 70 miles northwest of Orlando.
“As we pulled into the store, we noticed a shiny dime landed on the head beneath Harley,” Mallory said in a March 31 lottery news release in Florida.
“My husband and I enjoyed collecting dimes, and the symbols changed everything and encouraged us to buy tickets.”
She bought a $5 Monopoly Secret Vault ticket at the store and won one of the game’s $6 jackpots, the lottery said.
Officials say the chances of winning a jackpot are 1 in 6,477,970.
Mallory won the March 31 award and received a “one-time, one-time payment of $576,900,” officials said.
The couple lives in the unincorporated Ocklawaha community, a drive about eight miles east of the Belleview Food Store. The store operators have earned a $2,000 bonus fee to sell tickets, lottery officials said.
