Free Slurpee is back at 7-Eleven as the 24-hour convenience store chain celebrates its 98th birthday this Friday.
On July 11th, 7-Eleven will be offering patrons a free small slurpee drink at seven participating speedways, striped locations across the country.
Frozen drink fans can also celebrate Slurpee Day with temporary tongue tattoos in the shape of the brand’s signature “S” available at selected locations. The four tattoo options, blue, green, red and purple, are activated by drinking slurpee and are inspired by the coloured tongues that frozen drinks inevitably leave behind.
“On this Slurpee Day, we’re adding new flavors, festive stolen items, and even twists designed to mark your taste in the coolest possible way. “We love finding new ways to supplement the Slurpee drink experience and creating lasting moments for our customers throughout the Slurpee Day and the whole year.”
The 7-Eleven birthday bash will continue with the addition of additional free slurpees for reward members who scanned Slurpee Day by July 31st. The company also offers special birthday themed products, using the 7111 day to offer $7.11 from purchases over $20 on Friday.
Until the end of the year, the company will give its customers the opportunity to win $5,000 every day through the 7-Eleven and Speedway apps. Loyalty members can shop, scan rewards, and play in-app games for prize shots.

Slurpee discovered its humble origins when Omar Nedrik, the owner of Kansas City’s Dairy Queen, put a bottle of soda in the freezer and immediately started chilling it. His customers enjoyed the slimy flavour and began to seek out drinks that had been left a little longer. He used the car’s air conditioning unit to build a machine in the back room, calling it “ice.”
Seven-Eleven licensed the machine in 1965, but wanted to call for a drink at Slurpee, another name created by Bob Stanford, the director of the advertising agency.
This frozen drink that has piqued the world in a storm has appeared decades after it first began as the Southland Ice Company in Dallas in 1927.
In the almost century-old company history, there are currently over 85,000 7-Eleven stores in 19 countries, many of which are open 24 hours a day.
