public January 21st|update January 22nd

Parts of North Florida were blanketed in snow Tuesday as a severe storm barreled south, triggering the first-ever blizzard warning along parts of the Gulf Coast in Texas and Louisiana.

Parts of North Florida were placed under a winter storm warning as snow fell across parts of the South Tuesday.

A wide swath of North Florida was under a winter storm warning, with up to 4 inches of snow and sleet expected to fall, including up to 3 inches in Tallahassee. The last time it snowed in Florida’s capital was in 2018, but it lasted just 20 minutes, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. The most snow ever recorded in one day in the area was in 1958, when 2.8 inches fell, news outlets reported.

Keep up with weather developments in the South, Florida, and Tampa Bay areas.

Snow is not expected in the Tampa Bay area this week, but it’s not going to snow in 1977. Check out the photos here.

Photos and videos of snow falling on Tuesday came from photojournalist Luis Santana and were also caught on social media.

It’s incredible to think that North Florida is expecting snow, sleet, ice, and very cold winds today and tonight! @govrondesantis and @kevinguthriefl are already in that range. They provide assets and directed assistance to areas across the state in forecasts. Stay safe! https://t.co/g64uwkuhyt pic.twitter.com/aymgvh6b5m
