POINKA, Fla. (WFLA) – Deputies are investigating a shooting at a Publix grocery store that they say may be linked to the Road Rage incident.

Filming occurred on Sunday at Poinki Anapublix, located at 841 Cypress Parkway.

Detectives believe the shooting was an isolated incident and is likely due to road rage in the store’s parking lot.

Witnesses told NBC affiliate WESH that the incident became violent when the driver was irritated by another driver who felt he was blocking him.

That’s when the man accused of blocking jumped out of his car and fired a shot.

The incident led to gunfire and crushed windows. The cars began to collide with each other as they desperately tried to leave the scene.

“The people hiding behind the car…confusing, no one knew what was going on,” witness Frank Sabinon told Wesi.

The Plaza chiropractor’s office was shot as Sabinon, who worked at the liquor store next door, told the client to cover it.

“We locked the door and told everyone to go down to the ground, so we waited for everything to be quiet,” he told Wesh. “They were saying, ‘What’s going on… what’s going on?’ ”

The suspect reportedly is still being sought after, who quickly escaped the scene.

Wesh reported that no one was injured or killed during the shooting.

Anyone with information will be asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 407-348-2222. Anonymous tips can be created via Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
