LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – Whether they’re crawling, slithering, jumping or spraying, we were able to find them this weekend at Reticun, the RP funding center in Lakeland.
The family-friendly event hosted hundreds of reptiles and exotic animals for those who wanted to get in touch with the wild side. In fact, Landon Slain celebrated his birthday with a special purchase.

“It was so much fun being here. I bought a crested gecko. I absolutely love him or her. It’s a baby so I don’t know what gender it is,” he said.
For such questions, Repticon’s Mike Dean says that’s why they focus on educating visitors.
“A lot of education, a lot of people come out and just want to learn about these animals. Especially snakes and things like that might learn how easy it is for them to care for, but they are actually really sweet animals and they are good pets for a lot of people,” Dean said.
Popular events will travel across the country. This weekend’s expo attracted a massive crowd in Lakeland and local vendors.
“When you come to Repticon, you’re experiencing many different vendors, if not hundreds, if not thousands. We have a store here in Lakeland. We are a big sponsor of Repticon.
Even the first timer to find love for reptiles says that repticon is the perfect match for beginners and experts too.
“It’s so fun. All the animals here are so lovely, they’re all well trained and tamed,” Landon said.
The Repticon will return to the Tampa area of Florida Fairgrounds on June 7th and June 8th.
