It’s been nine years since the terrible acts claimed 49 lives at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub.

On June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen opened fire at a crowd of 320 at 2:02am, killing 49 people and injuring 53 people. At the time, it was the worst shooting in American history. June 12th is officially known as Pulse Memory Day. People from Orlando, across the country and around the world are spending their time celebrating lost lives and gathering power in their memories. The city will hold its annual commemorative ceremony to honor and remember the lost lives along with family, survivors, first responders and other people affected by the tragedy. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 12th at First United Methodist Church in downtown Orlando at 5:30pm, and learn more about the victims and their stories by choosing from the photos below.
