TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The popular Florida State Park is booked in the summer after a reservation system has been in place.

Earlier this month, Florida State Park announced that Wekiwa Springs State Park visitors will need to book if they plan to stop by the park from March 12th to September 1st.

The new system was introduced to prevent lines from forming just hours before the park opened.

On Wednesday, the website indicated that the park was fully booked from May 13th to September 1st.

Dozens of reservations were still available to enter the park until May 12th.

According to the park’s website, the number of bookings available daily is “based on the maximum number of visitors the park can accommodate.” Wekiwa Springs State Park has approximately 500 parking spaces.

The park is open daily from 8am to sunset. Admission is $6 per vehicle, and $4 for a maximum of 8 people.
