MOUNT DORA, Fla. (WFLA) — Some roads and yards in central Florida were washed away and caused major damage after a weekend storm dumped up to a foot of rain in some places.

The City of Mount Dora shared photos on social media Sunday night showing roads buckling and yards washed away. This city is located northwest of Orlando.

“These photos show just a small portion of what our teams are seeing on the scene to mark hazards, begin repairs, and restore safe travel routes,” city officials wrote.

Nearly 18 inches of rain fell on Mt Dora in 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service’s Melbourne office. The nearby town of Eustis recorded just under 20 inches.

City officials urged residents to use caution when traveling through the area as crews work to repair flood damage.
