GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A person is in police custody after barricaded in a parking lot at Gainesville in Walmart on Saturday morning.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, officers responded to Walmart, 2900 SW 42nd Street, just before 8am, in response to suspicious activity.

Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots coming from a trailer in the parking lot in front of the store. The GPD confirmed that the shots they heard came from the suspect.
Executives have established boundaries around trailers and stores, safely evacuating all customers and employees within Walmart and surrounding businesses.
No injuries have been reported and are included in the scene. People are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
The suspect’s identity and motives are currently unknown.
