Crosby is the Green Bay Packers’ highest scorer ever and will retire as the game’s leader.
Former Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby has announced his retirement from the NFL.
“I think I’ve put off this for two years,” Crosby said. “I’ve brought it out of my heart. I think this stubbornness has helped me so well in my performance career. So today I’m making an official announcement to retire from the NFL. “
“The NFL said I retired at the end of this season because if you don’t play for a year, you’re technically just riding in the sunset,” he continued. “But what do you know? I’m not riding the sundown. I’m always so worried and afraid of retirement, I’ve been done with something, and I’m done at the end of my career, but you What do you know, I discovered I have a passion (I chase after it).
Crosby also thanked his fellow special teams and teammates for his contributions to his success. “I was either accomplishments, admiration, or the moment I had (long snap) Bret Good, without Tim Mastay, without (long snap) Rob Davis (punter), John Ryan was my first I was a punter and holder for. I started with (quarterback) Brett Fabre and I played with Aaron Rodgers for the rest of my career… he definitely got me a lot He’s a man who needs to give thanks.”
He also thanked his wife Molly, his parents, brothers and sisters, Nie and ne, and all his teammates.
Crosby was drafted by the Packers from the University of Colorado in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. During his tenure, Green Bay won nine NFC North titles and advanced to the playoffs for 12 seasons, including eight years in a row, from 2009 to 2016.
He was a member of the Packers during the 2010 championship season and scored four additional points and field goals to score 31-25 wins against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl XLV. He led the league in extra points attempts and made it in 2008, 2011 and 2020. In 2020, he also led the league in field goal percentages, reaching a perfect 16 at 16. 57. His career was 58 yards. He was perfect with additional points in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
After the Packers chose not to resign in 2023, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams practice team in December 2023, and later that month signed the New York Giants practice team, making it into the Giants three games Performed, 7 field goals, with 52 and 6 lengths out of seven additional points.
Crosby left the team in 1918 points as the Packers’ all-time goal scorer, and the Associated Press reported, with 11th points scoring at 1,939 in NFL history. He also played 258 games. This is the most player in Packers history.
Green Bay struggled to fill the gap Crosby left behind in 2023. His successor Anders Carlson led the league with a miss kick in 13 in 2023, and in the end the Packers sacrificed a split round playoff game with the San Francisco 49ers. Joseph Podolny and Greg Joseph were brought in to compete with Carlson in 2024. None of the three formed a team. Braden Narbeson began the season as a kicker, but was replaced mid-season by Brandon McManus.
Two of Crosby’s teammates also congratulated him. “Mason, it’s great to be a teammate and friends as long as we have,” said the former Packers wide receiver Donald Driver. “Twenty years have passed…Congratulations to the new chapter you’ve been happy to receive, because it’s exciting.”
Former security guard Josh Sitton also sent his wellwish to Crosby. “It’s a surreal moment, but it’ll hit you soon…but a great career, a great guy, an incredible teammate, an incredible clutch for us in Green Bay. A moment. Congratulations on your amazing career, man.”
