Volsia County, Fla. (WFLA) — One Florida County recorded hundreds of complaints about jellyfish stab wounds over anniversary weekend.
Volcia County officials have recorded more than 360 stab wounds on popular beaches such as Daytona and Newsmyrna since Saturday, according to a report from NBC affiliate WESH.

Volusia Beach Safety Director Tammy Malphurs says the jellyfish have taken over and they don’t know when they’ll move on.
“They are just at the mercy of the wind and the current,” Malfer said.
Beach fans are urged to keep an eye on the creatures while they are swimming and take a step while walking along the coastline. Anyone experiencing a stab wound should look for a lifeguard tower filled with vinegar.
According to UF Health, vinegar rapidly stops thousands of small, unfilled, stinging cells left in the skin after contact with the tentacles.
