If a birthday deserves a toast, then 150 of them deserve a toast. That’s why, as part of the Orlando Sentinel’s celebration of a century and a half of bringing news to Central Florida, we’ve partnered with Ten10 Brewing to release four celebratory beers, one for each quarter.
The first beer, called Orange County Reporter, is a local citrus ale named after Orlando’s first newspaper, the predecessor to the Sentinel.
And we invite you to the launch party!
Space is limited and tickets can be purchased at OrlandoSentinel.com/RSVP. But in addition to enjoying quality celebratory beer, attendees will also enjoy a presentation by the Orange County Regional History Center detailing the history of the area’s citrus industry.
Not to mention the samples of this light and lovely beer.
Brewed with Florida-grown citrus zest and citrus hops, Ten10 owner and brewer Mike Wallace says the Orange County Reporter is a fun spin on a tried-and-true blonde ale recipe.
“For this piece, we really wanted to focus on citrus, which brings out similar flavors like orange and grapefruit in the hops.”
Orlando Sentinel celebrates 150th anniversary as Central Florida’s newspaper
Later this year, local craft beer fans can look forward to Sentinel Star Stout in the spring and Babar’s Breaking News from California Common Salute reporter Emily Babar in the summer who broke the news of Disney World’s impending arrival in Central Florida.
When the weather cools down, “This a Privilege,” named after the Sentinel’s longtime front-page slogan “It’s a Privilege to Live in Central Florida,” will be a white stout featuring dark Belgian chocolate and Barney’s local coffee.

“This newspaper has provided us with a lot of great information. There are thousands of archived articles that were published during the Orlando Sentinel’s run. We went through it and picked out a few that made sense, that we knew would be fun to work on in beer, and that we thought people would really enjoy,” says Wallace.
Orange County Reporter will be available on draft and in six-packs at Ten10 Brewing while supplies last.
“We plan to sell the cans individually for those who would like to acquire them as a collector’s item.”
Serve as part of a pint or flight. At Ten10, we’ll be happy to be the first to try it, just like we do with our other beers.
“We’re excited to partner with great local businesses like Ten10 Brewing on these special beers in celebration of our 150th anniversary,” said Orlando Sentinel Executive Editor Roger Simmons. “This is a great way to toast the past and present successes of Central Florida’s top newspaper and look ahead to many more great years.”
