The arrival of the new “Superman” film has all “up, up, away” for the superheroes, but for local adventures, there are several options in Central Florida recently. DC Comics has established a bit of a base in some unexpected places. However, it should be noted that some of these are in the Orlando area due to limited orchids.
And while these activities may not occur on the same universe or on the same supervillain, it may be a good time to remove the cape from the dry cleaner.
Look! In the sky!
Gaylord Palms is hosting a multifaceted event called DC Summer, a collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences. Hotel guests and other visitors can interact with characters at shows, meals and at random within the ultra-elevated Kissimmee resort.
“We wanted to have the feeling that you can come and see your favorite superhero and be able to truly be part of that legend,” said Nico Nicolau, director of entertainment at Gaylord Hotel.
The “DC Super Hero Academy” live show will feature “Choose Your Own Adventure”/Mad LIB styling.
“Superhero stories change based on the audience,” Nikolau said. “And there’s another hero who comes out depending on the day.”

The resort offers DC Superhero Craft Zone. Revenge of the Riddler Scavenger Hunt features puzzles scattered across a vast resort. The character dining in Hall of Justice introduces the three main superheroes firsthand.
The meal “is because it takes such unique, close-up photos of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman,” Nikolau said. Visitors can also find heroes who randomly patrol the property.
“They’re just keeping an eye on them, they’re making sure there’s no villain and they’re making sure there’s a problem going on,” Nikolau said.
The resort also has DC themed poolside activities and movies that appear from the main pool area in some evenings. There are themed foods, such as Amazonian Freeze and the ice drinks called Metropolis Chill (the secret menu mentions the word “superhero”), and there are places for the products.
This day was built at the Battle of the Justice Light Show at Gaylord Palms Atrium, and features LED curtains hanging from the ceiling. The presentation features a 10-minute soundtrack and many heroes and villains, from the Cheetah to the Green Lantern.
“It’s an empty digital comic book,” Nikolau said. “We think it’s a great medium to bring everyone together at the end of the night.”
You don’t need to be a hotel guest to participate, but some activities cost a fee. Gaylord also offers room packages that include DC superhero supply packs such as autograph sessions, projector pens and superhero capes.
“DC Summer” will be held until September 1st. For pricing, pricing and other information, please visit GayLordHotels.com/dcsummer.

Superpowers and science
The Orlando Science Centre is currently home to DC Superheroes: Discover Your Superpower. This is an exhibition that examines qualities that lead to success and real life that lead to truly heroic behavior. Think about teamwork, the power of deductions, self-awareness, a sense of justice, and problem-solving.
Participants face challenges related to Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Aquaman and more. Can be done with flash. Bad guys like Cheetah and Joker (who ruins the bat signal) are also taking part in the mix.
Even without SuperSpeed you can become a hero by volunteering and becoming a friend, the exhibition teaches.
The exhibit, created by the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, will remain in Orlando until September 7th. Included with regular admission to the Orlando Science Centre.
