The Ontario government has issued a warning of scammers to take advantage of the $ 200 rebate checks sent to qualified residents of the state.

“I do not actively contact me. For example, to find personal information to sign up to social insurance number (Sin), bank account information, health information, money or remuneration, to sign up to the rebate program.”
The government’s announcement on the re -check was included in the autumn economic statement announced in October.
Ford said at the time that it was aiming to support the rebate of the federal carbon tax and high interest rates.
“It’s money that can be used to repay credit cards after vacation, buy winter coats for children, and cover the cost of gas up family cars.”
The rebate check is expected to cost about $ 3 billion in the state.
The government said that all adults, who submitted an income tax return in 2024 in 2023, would have a rebate qualification unless they were imprisoned or bankruptcy in 2024. For example, a qualified family with two adults and three children can expect to receive $ 1,000.
The government’s website stated that checks began to appear in mail in early 2025.
Opposition parties criticized the payment at the time and said that it was a way to give curry favors prior to the expected early election.
