
COCOA – A man walking along the tracks of a Cocoa train was killed late Saturday after being attacked by an approaching Brightline train, police said.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:30pm in the 800 block of Cocoa Boulevard, also known as the United States. The southbound passenger train collided with an unidentified man, making it the third fatal incident involving Brightline since January 1st.

Witnesses told officers that the name had not been released but was believed to live in the area, but were seen walking along the tracks just before the train was about to pass. . It was not immediately clear how fast the southbound train was moving at the moment of shock.
The train was allowed to continue the route shortly after the investigation began. The man’s body was handed over to the medical examination room at Rockledge.

The Federal Railroad Administration reports nine train-related deaths in Brevard County in 2024. Eight of these deaths are related to the Brightline train. Last month, the first two fatal collisions occurred in Melbourne, including Brightline. In both cases it was related to pedestrians.
