GRETNA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says the suspect who fired shots into a crowd at a memorial service last weekend has turned himself in, killing one person and injuring three others.

Dedalio Germartinez Hunter, 40, of Gretna, turned himself in at the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Nov. 3, officials said.

Armed suspect shot and killed by Sarasota County deputies responding to 911 call

Investigators said Hunter appeared at a memorial service in Gretna on Nov. 1 armed with a semi-automatic rifle. FDLE said the man then began firing into a large crowd of people who were mourning those killed in a murder two weeks earlier.

Officials said four people in the crowd were shot, and one person died from his injuries. Authorities said a fifth person was injured when he was struck by a driver who was trying to flee the gunfire.

Detectives said after further investigation into the shooting, they identified Hunter as the shooter. He is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Investigators have not said whether they have determined a motive for the shooting. FDLE said additional arrests and charges are likely to be made in this case.

No further information was immediately available.
