Sitting 28-14-2, Bobrovsky picked up where he left off after backing the Panthers in his first Stanley Cup last season. In his last 13 appearances, the two Vezina Trophy winners recorded a 10-3-0 record with a stellar .935 save percentage.
“There’s all the materials and pieces,” Bobrovsky said of this year’s team.
Of Bobrovsky’s 424 career victories, 169 have come to the Panthers.
Before taking his talent to South Florida, he won 213 games with the Columbus Blue Jacket and 42 games with the Philadelphia Flyers.
According to NHL statistics, Bobrovsky is one of five goaltenders ranked in the top two in multiple franchises (Columbus and Florida).
Montrealbound
After splitting the first two games on a six-game road trip, the Panthers face another tough test as they compete against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Saturday.
In the thick of the playoff hunt, the Canadiens are currently sitting one point behind their blue jacket for their second wildcard spot at the Eastern Conference.
The fire was set at the right time, making Montreal 6-2-2 in the last 10 games.
One of three games to play against the Canadiens for the Panthers this season, Montreal was the top in the first matchup, earning a 4-0 victory at Amerant Bank Arena on December 28th.
“We have a lot of games against teams that are really fighting for their lives,” Maurice said of the path ahead of the Panthers. “We know that. It’s been around for two years. We’ve been there for four months in that life. Every night is right, so it’s really good that these teams can have that kind of schedule.”
