ORLANDO, Fla. — A new study identifies the most popular rides in Walt Disney World, highlighting the most attention-grabbing attractions for both online and theme park visitors.
An analysis conducted by Seatpic, a ticket comparison site, evaluated the rides that travel to all four Disney World Parks. These are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We used a combination of Instagram hashtag counts, TripAdvisor ratings, and monthly average Google search volume. These metrics were combined into the index to determine the current popularity of the ride.
The topping for the list is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terrorism at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This haunted hotel themed drop ride scored the highest overall score on 465,274 Instagram hashtags, a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, and an average search of 76,000 people.
Second place is Space Mountain, Magic Kingdom’s iconic indoor roller coaster. As Florida’s oldest operating coaster, Space Mountain is a fan favorite, generating over 128,000 Google searches and 128,593 Instagram hashtags each month.
Third place is riding a family-friendly boat that shows off the small world and global culture. The ride continues to captivate guests with over 49,000 searches and over 350,000 Instagram hashtags each month.
Star Wars: The rise of resistance, the heart of Disney’s galaxy edge, ranks fourth. This immersive experience has earned over 84,000 searches and over 130,000 Instagram hashtags each month, making it the most popular recent addition to the park.
The top five are Everest, the Animal Kingdom Expedition, concluded. This approximately 200-foot roller coaster is the only top 10 ride with a perfect 5-star rating on TripAdvisor.
Other vehicles that made the top 10 stars Ghost Mansion (6th), Big Thunder Mountain Railway (7th), Star Tour (8th), Jungle Cruise (9th) and Rock’s Roller Coaster (10th).
According to data, Magic Kingdom boasts the best top ranked rides, with five of the top 10 attractions in the park.
Seatpick CEO Gilad Zilberman said the findings underscore the importance of digital engagement metrics when planning theme park visits. “Walt Disney World, with over 58 million visitors a year, is the world’s most ticketed vacation resort,” says Zilberman. “This study shows that online interest can help families better plan their trips and make the most of their time in the park.”
