This year, NASA said returning to the moon with humans is a top priority. Through the Artemis program, astronauts orbit the moon for scientific research in 2026 and land on the moon in 2027.
Currently, NASA interim administrator Sean Duffy says plans to build a reactor that will be deployed on the moon will be excited. “It’s about winning the Second Space Race,” said a NASA official.
NASA’s idea of deploying nuclear reactors in space is expected to occur around 2030. Their goal is to win to arrive Russia and China first.
The Trump administration is urging NASA to get ideas from space analysts within the next 30-60 days.
In addition to these two items, the Kennedy Space Center along Florida’s East Coast will also perform on the International Space Station changeover.
The Axiom Space, Vast and Blue Origins included in NASA’s missions are located in Brevard County and will help NASA achieve these goals.

The NASA budget for the upcoming fiscal year is expected to cut from $24.8 billion to $18.8 billion, representing a reduction of about 24%. The proposed budget primarily shows some cuts to NASA of its workforce. Earlier this year, the space agency was offering employees early shopping to save money.
Another cut includes the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft after the Artemis III. The Trump administration wants more private sector, aiming to partner with commercial alternatives.
However, one area NASA is expected to see funding growth is due to more human spaceflight.
NASA says it is already ready to be announced and there will be a deal to be released within the next six months.
