Myrtle Beach, SC (WBTW) – US Congressman Nancy Mace has launched her governor bid with a fiery appearance at Myrtle Beach veteran cafes and grills, aiming to establish politicians and policy.
The three-term House of Representatives from South Carolina’s Lowcountry is one of the high-ranking GOP name slates to replace Henry McMaster next year.
Mace announced her candidacy in Charleston on Monday.
“I can’t do it alone. I can’t do it alone. I have to do it with God’s grace, and I have to do it with all the voters in Holly County who are ready for the truth,” Mace said.
Since his arrival in Washington, DC, Mace has been tuned to President Trump and has become the center of his efforts to roll back trans rights. Last year, it introduced a law prohibiting transgender women from using women’s toilets and changing areas at the Capitol.
“The world is changing. We need to protect those who served our country,” said Marcus, a veteran supporter and veteran of Mace. “She’s a veteran too.”
A recent survey conducted by the South Carolina Policy Council’s Targoz Market Research found 1,200 South Carolina voters registered statewide between July 21st and July 25th.
The results show that MACE is 1% ahead of Wilson, within the vote’s plus or minus 2.77% error.
Outside the city hall, protesters held the signs and spoke out against the Mace and Palmetto Province plans. Some people said they were denied entry into the event based on their position.
“I’m a veteran. I’m an American. I deserve to have tickets, have questions and be able to ask,” Carol Veracera said.
Lisa Krumpotic of Conway said she also had a hard time getting inside.
“It’s City Hall. We have the right to be here. We are potentially members of her if she is elected,” she said. “So, even if we don’t support her, she’ll be talking on our behalf.”
Campaign spokesman Sydney denied these claims.
“There were some Democrats in the room. Rep. Mace welcomes all perspectives at her event, but if there’s another person’s safety or the risk of harassment, you’re out,” she said.
