MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – A royal Caribbean crew has been found dead after police say they stabbed fellow workers and jumped off the ship.
Officials with the Royal Bahamas police told NBC affiliate WTVJ that it occurred Thursday night when the ocean symbol was near San Salvador Island.
Authorities said the 35-year-old South African crew stabbed a colleague, a 28-year-old South African woman multiple times. She’s recovering now.

After a while, police said the man jumped off the boat and jumped into the water and escaped. He was later found to not respond and was declared dead by medical staff on board.

A Royal Caribbean spokesman confirmed the incident with WTVJ in a statement.
“Our onboard security team responded to an incident involving two crew members in a personal conflict. One of the crew was injured, the onboard medical team attended and is now in stable condition,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, the other crew members have died after going overboard and recovering through search and rescue operations.”
On Saturday morning, the ocean icon returned to Port Miami.
