Saving humanity in a movie about interstellar travel is the point of the right bullet on your resume to assume the duty of a god on a cruise ship named Star Princess.
Princess Cruise has announced that Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila will play a ritual role in a new ship arriving in Fort Lauderdale for the first season of sailing through the Caribbean.

In addition to “Interstellar” in 2014, McConaughey’s film credits also include the space-themed “Contact,” with more sailor experiences from the 2000s “U-571” and 2005’s “Sahara.”
Thematically, he is suitable for his sister ship to the Sun Princess, which debuted from the Port Everglades in 2024. Both are in the ball class of Princess Cruise, the largest ship in the fleet.
The duo is expected to be on hand at a ship baptism ceremony at South Florida Port on November 6th, and will begin their usual seven-night Caribbean itinerary starting November 10th.
“We are honored to be God Parents of Star Princess,” the pair said in a statement in a press release. “With the Princess, it’s not just a holiday. It’s often used, with family and friends coming together to meet new people and make memories. This ship quickly builds that spirit, and we’re proud to be part of her story.”
The two are co-founders of Pantalon’s Organic Tequila, and the Princess has a partnership. The Princess from Fleetwide uses the tequila brand in a signature cocktail that includes a 24K gold margarita.
Princess Cruise President Gus Entorcha said the pair’s charisma fits the role of God.
“With the warmth and spirit of their signature, Camila and Matthew embody the value defining a princess, and we are delighted to welcome them to our family in such a meaningful way,” he said in the release.
Camila McConaughey is also a bestselling author, entrepreneur and founder who is also the founder of today’s online community, Women.
Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar at the Dallas Buyers Club in 2013, winning other film and television credits including “Time to Kill,” “Dazed and Confused,” “The Wedding Planner,” “How to Lose a Man in 10 Days,” “Magic Mike,” “The Lincoln Lawyer,” and “The True Detective.”
However, the title of the romantic comedy “Launch Failed” probably doesn’t fit the title of his new cruise ship.

The cruise line owned a 177,800 tonnes and 4,300 guests’ ship at the ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcon, Italy last Friday.
It became the 17th ship in the Princess Fleet.
The vessel will debut in the Mediterranean on October 4th, then sails for Florida on a transatlantic ocean at the end of the month. After winter Caribbean season, the ship challenges Alaska through the Panama Canal.
“This incredible vessel is a testament to the innovation and craftsmanship of our long-standing partners, and we are fostering our hearts thanks to the shipbuilding team that has made it a newest ship,” Antorcha said.
Like the Sun Princess, ships are fueled by liquefied natural gas. This is a clean combustion drive that is part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
The new ship features more seats in the expanded non-smoking casino area, Irish Pub, and a larger version of the love of the dining venue inspired by the new art by Britt. The architectural debut at Sun Princess features mirrors on the new ship, including a square protruding on either side of the ship’s hull, a transformation theatre space called the Arena, and a glass entertainment venue on top decks called the Dome.
There will be 30 meal and drink venues, including a new version of Magic Castle’s magic-themed Speak Easy.
The original stage productions on board have a title entitled “Meridian,” which has a Titanic-style forbidden love story.
Unlike the Sun Princess, originally planned to have a hang glider attraction, the Star Princess takes up the same space for her dedicated sports court and track, along with the splash pads.
The ship is one of several with a Florida debut from the Port Everglades scheduled for this fall, including Disney’s third wish-class ship, Disney’s Destiny and Celebrity Cruise’s fifth edge class ship, and Celebrity Xcel.
The state has already seen the debut of Norway’s Aqua, Master’s Degree World, Royal Caribbean Sea Star.
