Disney Cruise Line shares the visual elements of the Disney Destiny Ship, especially the progress of Marvel characters just outside the ship.
“We are currently actively under construction. All the blocks on the ship are assembled, so now we are moving inside the ship and starting to install finishes,” Beth Burkhart, the leading interior designer at Walt Disney Imagerling, said at a showcase about Destiny while aboard the docked Disney Wish ship in Port Canalal.
“Every day these spaces are beginning to come back to life, and this is extremely exciting,” she said.
The new ship, scheduled to sail in November, is currently at the German manufacturer. Disney overlays the theme of “heroes and villains” through destiny.
Spider-Man clings to Destiny and begins and ends his back as Spider-Man clings to his destiny, bringing the rear for Disney magic, Disney fantasy, Dumbo, and Rapunzel in Disney Wish.
“It’s our first Marvel Stern character,” Burkhardt said. “And, as always, we love to give them all a fun, whimsical twist.”
In this case, the stern character ensemble will include a spiderbot.
“Inside the spiderbots, there’s a snorkel mask or a lifeplay bar at the waist. They’re having a great time,” Burkhardt said.
She shared a video made for Spidey and friends, saying the numbers were on her way to Germany to be installed on the ship.
Disney Cruise Line Adds a Modern Touch to the New “Hercules” Show
The Grand Hall of Destiny has multiple “Black Panther” touches.
“The first Marvel on the Disney Cruise Line is Grand Hall character T’Challa,” Burkhardt said. “He actually has a Black Panther standing next to him, which symbolizes everything about the various Black Panthers.”
Like other DCL ships, T’Challa is a bronze sculpture, but with a dark patina that brings out a silver accent to his suit. There is also a purple accent. This represents vibranium, an energy-absorbing ore that is part of the Marvel universe.
“You can see the vibranium revitalizing his suit… he’s ready to power up and go on an adventure,” Burkhardt said.
The recently released rendering of Destiny’s Grand Hall, featuring a vibranium-powered chandelier, includes the character of Loki, the villain of Thor. It is a signal that good and evil can lurk in that space, thanks to special effects.
“Lighting is being used in a whole new way… so if you see heroes and villains in the space, you’ll feel completely different,” Burkhardt says.

Elsewhere, the ship’s sanctuary lounge is inspired by the Doctor Strange characters.
“The Relic Room has some great design details. We really leaned over that space in the film and inspired the look and feel of the space,” Burkhart said. “We also have books with those books hanging on a bookshelves like the place where Dr. Strange goes to study at Kamal Taj.
There is an Iron Man-inspired suite and a superhero action featuring a Marvel Superhero Academy area for young passengers.
Other characters’ touches on the 4,000-seater ship include the Cruela Devil, the “Hercules” stage show and a piano lounge with a themed dining called Prideland. Among the songs that can be played by the corner of the ship is “Captain America March” and “The Glory Days” from “The Incredibles.”
Disney revealed a superhero outfit with a cape for Minnie Mouse.
