Vero Beach, Fla. (WFLA) – Body camera video shows the moment when a Florida deputy pulls a suspect escapes from a burning vehicle after a tree crashes.
The incident happened Sunday night in the 4300 block of 26th Avenue in Vero Beach as the driver fled west after Vero Beach police attempted a traffic stop.

Deputies for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area for the suspect, who was later identified as Donald James Jr.
“Get out of the car,” I’ve heard the lawmaker screamed. “Now, let’s go.”
The body camera features officials running into a burning car as the driver screams that his feet are not working and cannot go outside.
“My legs aren’t going well,” replies James.
At that moment, two deputies grab James with their arms and drag him out of the driver’s seat from the car.
The Sheriff’s Office said it believes James crashed into a tree while fleeing authorities. The suspect was on the release of the inmate due to past murders. He is currently facing felony charges for fleeing and fleeing.
Vero Beach police said James was admitted to a local hospital. He had not been arrested at the time of this report.
